How does US Mystery Shopper work?

Members register on our website for mystery shopping opportunities. Reviewers are selected at random from everyone who registered for a particular opportunity.

The selected reviewers are then sent gift cards, vouchers or money (depending on the opportunity) to spend in the chosen store so that they can complete their mystery shop. In return we ask for a written review of their mystery shopping experience, video review and photos within 7 days of receipt of the gift card/voucher/money and letter that we will provide.

 

I am not in the USA. How can I register?

Mystery shopping is currently available in the US, UK and Australia only.

How many opportunities can I register for?

You can register for as many standard Mystery Shopping Opportunities as you like.

However, in the instance where we run a one-off or limited opportunity for a guaranteed $100 gift card you can only qualify for one gift card per person per household.

Do I have to register more than once for each opportunity that I am interested in?

No, only one entry per opportunity per member will be counted, so you only need to register once for each opportunity that you are interested in.

 

What are the review requirements?

Reviewers must provide a 500+ word written review, video review and photos. Reviewers receive a review checklist with points to discuss in their review, along with an A4 poster for photos.

How do I sign up?

You can register for opportunities by selecting the opportunity you are interested in, and clicking the ‘Sign Up’ button. Enter your details and answer the survey questions to complete your registration in full.

Will it cost me anything?

US Mystery Shopper is Free to join and on the standard campaign, we do not ask you to make payment to become a reviewer.

However, in the instance where we run a one-off or a limited promotion to partake in a guaranteed $100 gift card Mystery Shopping opportunity we may ask you to partake in in third-party deals that require an initial payment or signing up to a free trial. Please see our deals chart for examples,

What do I do if I have not received a confirmation email for my account?

Please check your spam/junk folder first. If you have not received the confirmation email, please send us your email address using the contact form and we can manually activate your account. Please add info@usmysteryshopper.com to your address book to ensure you receive all future correspondence from us. If you are selected as a reviewer, we will contact you via email in the first instance.

How does US Mystery Shopper make money?

As a specialist in market research and online opinion polls, manufacturers and advertisers pay us for our services.

Do I get paid to submit a review?

As we provide reviewers with gift cards/ vouchers/ money to complete their review, we do not pay for reviews. Products purchased using the gift card/ vouchers/ money are the reviewer’s to keep, and do not have to be returned to US Mystery Shopper.

Do I have to complete any of the survey offers to register for mystery shopping?

You must work through the entire survey, answering each question, to complete your registration in full. Most people opt into 3 or 4 offers, so please only opt into those that you are interested in.

In the instance of a one-off or limited promotion of the guaranteed $100 gift card, you will be required to complete three steps Bronze, Silver and Gold as specified in ‘How it works’ above.

How do I know which opportunities I have registered for?

You can check which opportunities you have registered for by logging into your account and clicking on the ‘My Account’ tab. Opportunities highlighted in green with a tick have been registered for in full. Any opportunities showing under ‘My Account’ that are not highlighted in green indicate that you have started to register for them, but not completed registration in full. You can go back and complete registration for this opportunity at any time.

I’ve forgotten my password.

If you cannot log into your US Mystery Shopper account, you will need to reset your password. Please click here to do this.

How do I change my cell number?

You can update your cell number by logging in and clicking the ‘My Account’ tab. Click the ‘+’ icon to open your personal details.

How do I change my address?

You can update your address by logging in and clicking the ‘My Account’ tab. Click the ‘+’ icon to open your personal details.

I no longer wish to be considered for an opportunity.

Please let us know which opportunities you are no longer interested in using the contact form.

I am not receiving confirmation emails for each opportunity I register for.

You will not receive a confirmation email for each opportunity you register for. You can check your registrations have gone through successfully by logging into your account and clicking on the ‘My Account’ tab. Opportunities highlighted in green with a tick have been registered for in full. Any opportunities showing under ‘My Account’ that are not highlighted in green indicate that you have started to register for them, but not completed registration in full. You can go back and complete registration for this opportunity at any time.

What do I do if I think I have been selected?

Please check our Chosen Shoppers page to see if you have been chosen. If you have been selected, we will contact you via email in the first instance.

Important – For members who have been offered the one-off or limited promotion of the guaranteed $100 gift card a button will appear in your account to claim your gift card if you have qualified i.e. all the steps are completed and validated.

I am not receiving emails from US Mystery Shopper.

Please send us your contact details using the contact form and we can check your subscriptions. Please add info@usmysteryshopper.com to your address book to ensure you receive all correspondence from us.

How do I know which deals I have registered for & what status they are at?

For the one-off or limited promotions of the guaranteed $100 gift card only.

When completing the three step you must complete deals as instructed, the status will change to blue (pending). Please give us some time to update the status, sometimes this can take 24 hours.

Once in pending, our advertisers will then check if you have completed the deal correctly. Normally this happens quite quickly, however, this can take up to 30 days. When the advertiser has confirmed you have fully completed the deal, it will change from blue (pending) to green (confirmed)

Blue deals - If a deal is blue this means it has tracked properly and we are waiting for the advertiser to confirm the deal has been completed fully as per their terms and conditions.  The deal will turn green within 30 days.

If a deal has not updated after 24 hours, please send us any confirmation emails etc for any deals that were fully completed so that we can then go back to the advertisers with your query.

Red deals - If a deal is red that means it has been rejected by the advertiser as the terms and conditions of the deal have not been met. If you believe a deal has been rejected incorrectly please send us an email at unlocked@usmysteryshopper.com and we will look into this for you.

If you find that you may not have completed a deal as per the instructions then you can choose an alternative deal instead

Timeframe - You have 15 days to complete the required steps after which time the steps will close, we will then allow a further 30 days for the steps to validate.  All 10 deals must be green (Validated) & the giftcard must be claimed within 45 days of signing-up to US Mystery Shopper. Our system will automatically remove/close the opportunity after 45 days and it will longer be available.

 

Reviewer Support

I am having problems sending my review to you, what should I do?

Please try sending your review by email, WeTransfer , DropBox or Google Drive , using info@usmysteryshopper.com as the recipient address.

Can I be chosen for testing again?

As our standard reviewers are selected at random there is a chance that you will be selected again for another opportunity.

However, the guaranteed $100 giftcard opportunity can only be claimed by one person per household.

How long do I have to complete my review?

You have 7 days from receipt of both your letter and gift card/vouchers/money to complete your review. Usually, these are sent separately, so please wait until you have received both to start your review as you will need to take a photo of yourself with the gift card/vouchers/money and A4 poster, which will be sent with your letter.

What happens if I can’t complete my review in time?

Please let us know if you require an extension using the contact details in your reviewer letter.

Where will my review be posted?

Your review will be used in our Review Room and posted on our Social Media Profiles.

Technical Support

I am having trouble resetting my password.

Please check your Spam/Junk folders first. If you have not received the password reset email, please submit a contact form and we’ll send you a unique link to re-set your password.

Why is my email address invalid?

This may be due to an issue with your email provider. We use an external service to validate email addresses, so we cannot manually validate your email address for you. Please try registering with an alternative email address.

Why does it say I'm already registered when I try to register?

This could be a caching issue, you can clear your cookies and cache within your internet browser settings and then reload the page to register

Why is my address not recognised?

We are only able to accept addresses which are registered with USPS, you can look up your ZIP Code here.

If you have an alternate residential address then you will be able to enter this on our system fine. We always check addresses prior to sending anything out, so if this address is not where you would like the gift card/ voucher to be sent if you are selected, then we will be able to alter this at the time.

Why am I being asked to log in again?

You may have been logged out of your account if you left the site, and therefore will need to log in again. When signing up for multiple opportunities, you just need to check your details are correct each time you sign up, or change any if you want to update any of your details.

Webpages are freezing.

Please try clearing your browser history and reload the website as the problem may be down to a caching issue. Alternatively, please try using a different device or browser.

Unsubscribe

How can I unsubscribe from US Mystery Shopper emails?

If you have an account with us, you can unsubscribe from UK Mystery Shopper emails here. You will need to log in to unsubscribe and select from the options. Please allow up to 48 hours for changes to take effect. If you are receiving notifications/pop ups then please refer to the question below.

How can I unsubscribe from 3rd party emails?

To unsubscribe from our sponsor emails, please click here. If you opted into offers from survey advertisers, and are now receiving emails from them, please click the ‘unsubscribe’ links at the bottom of their emails to unsubscribe from them. If there is no ‘unsubscribe’ link, or you are still receiving emails after the opt-out period (specified by the advertiser when you unsubscribe) please contact us.

How can I unsubscribe from US Mystery Shopper browser notifications?

These notifications are a setting in your browser that just need to be switched off. To do this please click here and follow the instructions.

How can I stop seeing Gmail Adverts in my promotions tab from US Mystery Shopper?

You can block/hide adverts from US Mystery Shopper if you no longer wish to see them. You can find more information on how to remove unwanted adverts in G-mail here.

How can I close my account?

To deleted your account please click this link here, sign in and select the third option. Please allow up to 48 hours for changes to take effect.

It’s been 48 hours since I unsubscribed, why am I still being contacted?

If you have already unsubscribed and you are still receiving emails from us, please submit a contact form. Please note, if you wish to unsubscribe from browser notifications or adverts, please find more information above.

Why am I being contacted by third party companies?

When you initially signed up to US Mystery Shopper, you would have been asked, on the first page, to tick an opt-in tick box to confirm that you agree with our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. It is your responsibility to ensure you read both the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions before agreeing to them. In our Privacy Policy, it clearly states that you will be contacted by us and selected third party sponsors. If you opted in to any of the advertiser offers in the survey during sign up, you will be contacted by them.
